Queen of Hearts Halloween Makeup Video Tutorial

_MG_6832 The Queen of Hearts – a prominent figure in the movie, Alice in Wonderland. In Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, the Red Queen has the iconic white makeup and blue eye shadow.

Supplies:  We recommend Graftobian ProPaint for this design.

You may also get all the face paint colors used in this design in one kit. Choose from Graftobian Makeup Kit or Diamond FX Makeup Kit.


Tips: Always start with a clean face. Make sure that all paints, tools and the work area are all clean. Prepare everything you need before you start.

Let’s paint! 

Step 1Paint a white heart. Enclose the whole face with a hollow heart using White Swan and #6 round brush.

Step 2. Fill the heart. Mix White Swan and Pearl Frost and fill in the heart using a sponge.

Step 3. Outline the heart. With some Fuzzy Bear Brown and a #6 round brush, outline the heart.

Step 4. Paint a crown. Using Gilded Gold and #6 round brush, paint a crown on top of the heart.

Step 5. Fill the crown. With some Crimson Red and a #6 round brush, fill in the crown.

Step 6. Shadow the crown. Shadow the crown using Eggplant and #6 round brush.

Step 7.  Highlight the crown. With some White Swan and a #6 round brush, add highlights on the crown.

Step 8.  Paint hearts and lines. With a #2 round brush loaded with Crimson Red, paint a downward line starting from the lower eyelid with a heart at the tip.

Step 9.  Shadow the hearts and lines. Shadow the line and heart design with some purple and the same brush.

Shadow the hearts and lines. Step 10.  Create eye shadows. With a sponge loaded with Catalina Blue, create eye shadows on the sides of the eyelids.

Step 11.  Paint the eyelids. Paint a mixture of White Swan and Catalina Blue on the middle of the eyelids. Use a sponge.

Paint the eyelids. Step 12.  Repeat Step 8. Repeat Step 8 but with some Raven Black and spades instead of hearts.

Step 13.  Create eyeliners. Create eyeliners using #2 round brush and Raven Black.

Step 14.  Create eyebrows. Create eyebrows using the same brush and paint.

Create eyebrows. Step 15.  Blend the eye shadows. Blend the eye shadows with a blender sponge loaded with a mixture of White Swan and Catalina Blue. Blend the eye shadows.

Step 16.  Blend colors. Create further blending using the same sponge but loaded with White Swan. Blend colors.

Step 17.  Paint heart lips. Paint a heart-shaped lipstick using Crimson Red and a #6 round brush. Paint heart lips.

Step 18.  Add some definition. Add some definition on the lips by painting Buttercup Yellow loaded on a #6 round brush. Add some definition

Step 19.  Add definition to other details. Repeat the same procedure on other red-colored designs on the face. Add some definition to other red-details

Step 20.  Highlight the lips. Paint some dots on the lips using White Swan and #6 round brush. Highlight the lips. Step 21.  Paint the eyelashes. Paint eyelashes using #2 round brush and Raven Black. Paint the eyelashes. Step 22.  Blush the cheeks. Add blush on the cheeks.

Blush the cheeks. Step 23.  Glitter the design. Put some glitter on the design.

The finished product!  Now, start yelling “Off with their heads!”
