For this blog I decided to take inspiration from a classic horror movie,
The Exorcist. Obviously this isn't a quick make-up, but it's definitely fun and worth a bit of effort! Follow these steps and create your own look.

 Product List

 Non toxic glue stick,
 Translucent powder by GRIMAS,
Mehron Procoloring. Colors used ; Bloody Rose, Midnight Sky, Spanish Olive.
 Kryolan Dermacolor mini light palette
Green food colouring and cup of water (mix)
 Kryolan fresh scratch,
Vermilion FX Crimson blood splatter spray.

Exorcist

Method

  1. Begin by preparing the gelatin. Bring a saucepan of water to boil.Meanwhile, use a sharp knife to cut the gelatin into smaller pieces and place into a bowl.Take the boiling pan of water off the heat and carefully place the bowl with gelatin inside the pan of water.
  2. Stir gelatin with a spatula until thoroughly melted (do not let the gelatin boil or burn!).
  3. Once the gelatin has liquefied, let it cool to a safe temperature before applying to the skin!
  4. While the gelatin is cooling, you can prepare the face by protecting the eyebrows. To do this, cover all hair with a thick layer of non toxic glue stick, cover with a generous amount of translucent powder ( any powder is fine for this). Repeat this process until you are completely satisfied that all hair is safely covered.
  5. Now you are ready to start building up the layers of gelatin to the face and neck.
  6. I concentrated on building up the eyebrow, forehead and cheek areas.I also built up the nose and made some 'cuts' to the neck. I used some pictures from the original film for reference throughout this makeup design.
  7. I used a round number 3 brush loaded with 'Bloody Rose' from Mehron Procoloring. This also gave the gelatin time to set, helping me to continue to build easier. Remember you can reheat/ remelt the gelatin.
  8. Next, I used a sculpting tool to pull the gelatin away from the skin inside the cuts created.
  9. Once the gelatin is set ( and you are happy with what you have created), apply a layer of translucent powder over the top of it all to set it and stop it from feeling sticky. I used a 3/4 flat brush, but a powder brush would be better!
  10. I sponged 'Midnight sky' from Procoloring around my eyes, over parts of the prosthetic and to my neck and chest. I like to use dark colors first as the get into the fine cracks of the prosthetic, creating details.
  11. I continued to use a sponge to apply 'Spanish olive' ( Mehron procoloring) to areas of the forehead, cheeks and neck.
  12. Next, I loaded a make-up sponge with with the lightest skin tone from Kryolan Dermacolor palette and applied over the face and neck, blending with the colors already applied.
  13. Using the 'Bloody Rose' again with the same brush as before (#3) I filled in the cuts created and then painted below my eyes and the eyelids.
  14. I used Diamond FX regular brown with a sponge to paint my hair - I did this as it made my hair look messier than using a wig.
  15. For the 'vomit' I mixed lime green food coloring with a glass of water.
  16. I added Kryolan fresh scratch inside the wounds and also around my mouth and nose, I used a number 1 round brush and also a sculpting tool for this.
  17. Using the round number 1 brush again, I dropped the food coloring mixture around my mouth and neck. I also took a sip and let it drop from my mouth so it looked more realistic.
  18. Finally I sprayed Vermilion FX Crimson blood splatter spray on my hand and added it to the wounds/ cuts using a number 1 round brush, I also sprayed it in my hair and on my chest and dress.

I began by blending orange , yellow and red powders around the eyes to create a subtle butterfly shape/ mask.
Next I loaded a medium firm angled flat brush by Bolt with the yellow, orange and red from the new Jalapeño cake by FacePaint and painted some one stroke butterflies around the eye.
I then applied magnetic eyeliner, mascara and then magnetic lashes.
Using the black from the Jalapeño cake and a Loew-Cornell round number 1 brush, I outlined the butterflies and added details to the wings.
I applied a red lipstick by GRIMAS ( 5-29) using paradise make-up brush AQ 818.
To add more interest to the eye area, I stenciled dots using Leà Selly butterfly stencil, using a finger dauber.
butterfly face paint

Next I used a Loew-Cornell round number 2 Brush and Diamond FX white to add dots and highlights to the butterflies.
To give the butterflies depth I added shadows, by using black powder and a blending brush.
To finish the look I tapped a smaller amount of water under my eyes and then applied a chunky glitter mix, this was a mix or yellow , white and gold. Purchased from Glitter envy.

Using a makeup sponge I dabbed white, light blue and then dark blue onto my face.

I used a large fluffy brush to apply dark blue eyeshadow into a soft and lightly winged out shape, then an angled brush to fill in my brows with black eyeshadow.
Then, taking a detail brush, mapped out the general shape of my butterfly on my mouth.

Using minimal black lines I filled in the butterfly, as well as added contour like shapes to my forehead and long the bottom of the eyeshadow. I also added lines along my nose.

Finally, I added some additional dark blue texture on my neck, light highlighter on my cheeks, and large lash like lines on my eyes.

Creepy, Cracked Zombie Monster Makeup Design by Ulianka Arty https://www.halloweenmakeup.com//blogs/halloweenmakeup-blog/monsters-lets-crack-this-monster 2019-06-03T17:37:15Z Ulianka Arty This desing is sooo simple, effective and suitable for all levels. It took me no more than half an hour to paint this monster togeter with a makeup and glueing on theeth. If you paint your theeth instead of glueing, It would be even faster! Let's CRACK it! Green Big Eyed Monster Makeup by Caroline Healy https://www.halloweenmakeup.com//blogs/halloweenmakeup-blog/big-eyed-green-monster-by-caroline-healy 2019-06-05T22:06:03Z Caroline Healy Monsters are always a favourite for Halloween and you will certainly scare a few friends with this creepy monster! Create your own monster by following these easy steps! Method:Begin by marking out where the eyes and mouth of your monster will be, using a Loew-Cornell Round Number 6 Brush with the Light Green Facepaint, and then use a Kabuki Brush to apply a base of light green to the face and neck. Don't paint hair like I did as I later decided to paint it black!   Next paint the eye area including lids Yellow, using the Pretty Petal Brush.... Big Eyed Green Monster

Monsters are always a favourite for Halloween and you will certainly scare a few friends with this creepy monster!

Create your own monster by following these easy steps!

Method:
Begin by marking out where the eyes and mouth of your monster will be, using a Loew-Cornell Round Number 6 Brush with the Light Green Facepaint, and then use a Kabuki Brush to apply a base of light green to the face and neck. Don't paint hair like I did as I later decided to paint it black!
Green Big Eyed Monster Makeup Step 1

Next paint the eye area including lids Yellow, using the Pretty Petal Brush.

Load a Teardrop Sponge with Diamond FX Black and fill in mouth area, paint the hair, and add shading under cheekbones and temple etc.

Outline the eyes and mouth using Diamond FX Black and a Round Number 1 Brush and then paint flared nostrils and wrinkles etc.
Green Big Eyed Monster Makeup Step 2

When painting the pupils in the eyes (especially where like me, you're painting this design on yourself)  I find it's easier to used a larger brush and then if needed you can sharpen the lines using a finer brush. I chose to use my Loew-Cornell flora number 6 brush, I also used this brush to add some wrinkles to the nose and forehead as it is thick but also has a very fine tip.

Load Diamond FX White onto the DF-2 Brush and paint horns, teeth and highlights to the eyes and some wrinkles. Highlights that look like an exclamation mark work well for eyes.
Green Big Eyed Monster Makeup Step 3

Using a Number 1 Round Brush again with Black Diamond FX again, outline horns, teeth and add more wrinkles to the nose.

Then to complete your monster look, use a Scale Stencil ( any would work) to create texture to your monsters skin!

To do this, activate Metallic Green Paint with one or two sprays of water and load onto a Finger Dauber.

The rule for stencils is don't let the paint or sponge be too wet! Add to areas as needed to create interest in your design .

You can also use a sealing spray when finished, Mehron and Kryolan both have good ones, but all the big brands will sell it.
Green Big Eyed Monster Makeup Step 4

Product list:
Diamond FX Black, White, Yellow 1050, Light Green 1057, and Metallic Green 1500

Tools:
Loew-Cornell Round Number 6 Brush (for planning design, light green)
Mehron Kabuki Brush
Paint Pal Pretty Petal Brush (for yellow eyes)
Teardrop Sponge
Loew-Cornell Round Number 1 Brush (for black line work)
Loew-Cornell Flora Number 6 Brush (for painting black pupils and wrinkles)
Diamond FX DF-2 Brush (for white teeth, horns and highlights)
    (sub TAG Round Number 2)
Finger Dauber
Scales Stencil
Water Spray Bottle (for stencils, use one or two sprays to activate paint so that it's almost sticky to prevent blurring)

Now you're ready to go! Have fun and don't scare too many people!

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog, I hope you found it useful!

Do you need scales in the next 2 hours? Do you have clay, a butter knife, makeup sponges and liquid latex? Holy cow are you in luck! That's right, PT's providing more fast projects for fellow broke artists! Check out how I do this thingy!

Step one: get your clay (I used hard clay for this but you can even use cheapo modeling clay from the dollar store. Most Dollar Trees I've been to have a neato 4 pack of clay sticks!) make a diamond with your fingers, if you have a hard time getting the edges pointy just use a clay tool or butter knife.

Step 2: Make some friends for your diamond!

Step 3: Make a second layer of diamond buddies and lay them so their points are in between the points of the first layer.

Step 4: More buddies! Keep layering and let them form an upside down triangle shape (or whatever shape, it's your life).

Step 5: Dab Liquid Latex on and around your diamond buddies. Wait for latex to dry, add more, wait to dry, add more. Do this for around 4 layers. I used a hair dryer to help dry - important note, try to use the heat sparingly (I mainly use the cool blast) you don't want the clay to begin to melt under the liquid latex.

Step 6: Use a brush and a ton of setting powder and powder the butts off your latex. Scrape an edge and gently lift your latex while constantly powdering as you lift to prevent the latex from sticking to itself. You can use a small fluffy brush to help with this.

Step 7: To apply: I use prosaide cream but you can totally use more latex as an adhesive. I use latex to blend the edges into my skin. I plug any tears or holes with prosaide cream and latex on a q tip.

Step 8: Paint! make sure to highlight the edges of the scales and use a detail brush to outline the scales as well for maximum depth! Use stipple sponges for texture to help hide edges if you made yours too thick! Enjoy!

And that is for a reason, there are countless ideas and ways to paint a skull and still, they will look good every time. This look that I did is actually inspired by art done by Paul Jackson. You can find him at @pauljacksonlives, he is truly amazing.

I always use a reference photo of a skull when I paint them skulls. You can find a lot of them on Google.

First, do a sketch! Use any kind of makeup pencil and line out a skull. It may look easy but this is actually the hardest part. This is my fifth and final attempt so don't worry if it isn't looking good at first. You should always keep one same position since if you move head up or down your illusion will look distorted.

I have also added outlines off some skin stripes that are connected to the skull but you can skip this step for now since you it is easier to paint skull first.

Use Mehron White Paradise Face Paint and PartyXplosion Black Aqua Face Paint and do the base for details on the skull. Those are only two paints that you will need.

Let's talk about adding details. The only important thing is to look at the reference photo and try to copy it as good as you can. First, do the darkest parts of the skull using black eyeshadow. Then outline tooths with PartyXplosion Black Aqua Face Paint using Mehron Stageline Fine Point Brush (1/16"), and with Mehron Paradise Flat Versatile Brush (1/8") do shadows on them and around them in dark grey color that you will get by mixing these two colors.

With PartyXplosion Black Aqua Face Paint and Mehron Stageline Fine Point Brush (1/16") add those thin lines and dots that you can see on your reference photo.

Here I basically wiped off paint in places that I want these skin lines to be.

I painted skin stripes with foundation and outlined them using Mehron Stageline Fine Point Brush (1/16").

Add some lashes for the extra glam and you are done! Strike a pose!

I hope you like this.
